So are you up for a challenge? Try living on $1.25 a day.
No, really. Try it.
In fact, you don’t even have to leave your seat to do so. Live58, an alliance of non-profits working together to see the end of extreme poverty in our lifetime, has just launched a new game called Survive125 that gives you the chance to do just that - try and survive on $1.25 a day.

The World Bank defines “extreme poverty” as living on the US dollar equivalent of $1.25 a day, or less. For the nearly 1.3 billion people around the world who currently live in extreme poverty, surviving on $1.25 a day is not a game, it’s a dangerous reality.
Deciding between paying for a uniform so your child can go to school or buying firewood and food for the day is not a choice many of us have to make. Sending your daughter to work in a factory for some extra income knowing there’s a risk of her being victim to sex trafficking may seem like an awful choice, but for many families living in poverty it’s a decision that could mean the difference between having enough money to eat, or starving.
Survive125 is an interactive game that puts players in the shoes of Divya Patel, an Indian woman with four children, trying to survive on $1.25 a day. Players will be faced with many of the impossible choices that those living in extreme poverty have to make every day.
Through this game, Live58 hopes to both educate and inspire people on issues of extreme poverty. Not only is Survive125 an educational game, it’s an experience. By placing themselves in the shoes of someone living in extreme poverty, players are able to struggle with hard decisions and ultimately choose their future.
Think you can live on a $1.25? Play and see if you can Survive125.
